I also loved the way the movie makes fun of the Marvel Universe. Some of my favorite jokes involved pop culture icons such as The Goonies, Frozen and Dubstep. Right from the very beginning, with the James Bond-style opening credits, you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into. I’m happy to say “Deadpool 2” did not disappoint. I loved the way they blended action with naughty humor. Unlike “Avenger’s” Infinity War,” I was actually looking forward to seeing “Deadpool 2.” The original “Deadpool” changed the way I thought about Marvel movies. And a thousand times, see this movie on the big screen - not necessarily because of anything cinematic - but because you shouldn’t wait. Stay until the very end of the credits - the very end - and you will not be disappointed.
(I didn’t know what the fourth wall was until I saw the first “Deadpool,” so, for me, the movie defines the term.)Īs I crunched my popcorn and sipped my ale, I was in on a million inside jokes with Ryan Reynolds and I couldn’t wait for more. “Deadpool 2” doesn’t just break the fourth wall - it obliterates it. He is ridiculous in a good way - from his avocado head to his teeny-weeny toes. He is an uncommon hero who delivers a steady stream of witty fun. evil or the sidekicks (although I must mention at least one new, female sidekick who was a delightful “knock ‘em down” surprise). And it’s not the plot or the villain or the good vs. In “Deadpool 2,” the epicness starts with beginning credits and it just keeps going. I love a good superhero movie … but face it, most of them have the same plot: a laboratory mishap, discovery of a power, introduction of a bad guy, a few, small scale battles, some close calls, toss in a sidekick or two or five, and then sit back for the even build-up to an epic battle-to-end-all-battles. Now you know why everyone is so excited about “DeadPool 2.” And, after seeing it over the weekend, I can honestly say, for good reason.
